Default Advice Needed :) Do I need the following

I should be getting my motor in a week or so and I am trying to tie up loose ends! Can you use the stock Comptech FPR or do I need an upgraded FPR such as the AEM or is there another brand?
At what point do you need to upgrade the map sensor? is it a certain boost level/ The search is broken so, I can't find any answers
What about plugs? I was thinking I should be running the IK27's
Any help would be much appreciated!

More info in my Sig!

Nick, the Comptech fpr should be replaced. I have the AEM one, but I'm sure there are others.

I beleive the stock sensor can only read up to 9-11# boost? Even though we're only running in the neighborhood of 10-11.5psi, we upgraded to the 3.5 BAR.

The IK27's are two steps colder. With what you'll be running, I'd start there. Better too cold than too hot. Adjust/replace as necessary.

Lastly, I take it you got hold of Joe? If so, then I'll send him money for the retainers.

Stock map is only good till 10.83psi. If yo are not going to be running over 15psi, a 2bar map will do...most run the GM 3bar though are extra room to grow. I really don't think you need to go two steps colder...one should be more than enough. I don't know the specs on the motor, but I'm running stock plugs at 9 psi with no pre-ignition.

Skip,
Joe is suppose to ship the motor Tomorrow and it should take a week or so ground so, I would still get your parts from him just ask him to be realistic about his shipping the parts to you! he was not very good at keeping his timetables but he is an honest person and you will eventually get them.

Would you mind sharing with me your info on the AEM Regulator and your Map Sensor? Where and how much? Maybe a part number

Scorp, Thanks for the added info, Hopefully we can meet up soon

Nick, did you get my email? I'm using the GM 3 bar map sensor with good results. You should give it consideration. Here is a picture of my installation:

Fred, Yes- I opened the pics earlier and the plumbing pics really helped - Thanks a bunch, I noticed your EPS valve from Canton, Did you use the toggle or just hardwire it to your ignition? I didn't want to bother you any more than I have already done so, I appreciate you chiming in! Your setup is just insane
My buddy who tunes suggested the parts I am asking about and I am trying to figure out what else I need so when I have it tuned locally, I don't have more down time waiting for bits and pieces.
Does the GM sensor bolt directly on or do you have to make modifications and where to purchase? I noticed you are using what appears to be a "Crankvent" how is that working out for you! I was just going to run my breathers at atmospheric - is that a good or bad idea! Thanks again!

Nick,
Skip had something come up so he might not be on here for a little bit. But I can answer most of those questions for you on his behalf! (since we did order all of our parts together)
AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator is Part # AEM 25-301B : Price is $163.65
AEM 3.5 Bar Map Sensor Part # iAEM 30-2130-50 : Price is $140.01

All of these parts are from Horsepowerfreaks.com. If you order, call & ask for Ben @ Extension 112. Tell him that Skip & Chad referred you!

Why do we need to replace the Comptech FPR when running more boost with the EMS?

Becasue the Comptech FPR is a rising rate FPR. Basicly as it sees boost it increases fuel pressure. And it's not really accurate, so tuning with the EMS because a nightmare, because your FP will never be the same. With the AEM FPR it's a contastant FP, but adjustable so you can dial in the FP...but it never changes after it's set.
