There's a reason why yours didn't come with a sensor- it DOESN'T have a built in WBO2. You have a 30-1052. Only the 30-1052U has a built in WBO2. You will have to purchase a separate controller.
As mentioned earlier, WBO2 has nothing to do with starting. If you go onto the AEM forums, there was a discussion about changes between the 1012 and 1052. Since I don't remember the specifics, I won't post anything that might be incorrect. I believe the 1012 also had a hardware update to deal with starting issues. Mine starts almost as quickly as a stock one and quicker than some recent brand new GM rental cars I have driven (Impala and Grand Am with 3xxx 60 degree V6).
