Default AEM EMS Tuning Questions

I have read all 213 pages of the AEM manual as well as all the supplemental parts manuals and have a few questions before Mase comes to town. Unfortunately the AEM forum is a bit slow and hard to get info out of.

I have a new 30-1052-U

1) Has anyone used a timing light to verify the AEM timing?

2) Has anyone had luck using the RTD auto tune, if I use a 0-5V input rather than RTD will this feature still work?

3) I still having a hard time understanding how AEM is using the Breakpoints after reading that section at least a dozen times. Can anyone explain it to me in laymen

Dang u actually read it all?!? To answer quickly:

1. Yes, its easy to do so if u have a timing light.

2. Waste of time

3. You can setup the break points however u want. I usually do PSI for the units. and full vac to whatever boost the client is running plus a little more. same w/ the rpms

4. I usually set the CEL to light up if the engine over heats.

5 Yes, you can alter fuel/ign w/ the nitrous outputs

6. im sure you could, u can configure LS and HS outputs.

Yes, all together it was about 300pages but that was with pictures. Unfortunately they could have used another 300 if they went into details on most of the features. The terminology and much of the other is still foreign to me and I am sure I will sit the car for several hours trying to figure it all out.

Guess I am going to have to buy another timing light. I sold mine years ago with the intent that I would NEVER adjust a distributor again. At the time GM's Opti spark was awesome over the older HEI.

I am still lost on the break points? The units in the tables seem erroneous and the description is horrible.

Hopefully I will have my stuff together well enough to get the car to you next month.

right click the top breakpoint, enter max psi. then select all breakpoints, rightclick, calculate colums. then it interpolates the rest.

hope that helps
