I have paid for every AEM part on the car, aside from the smart coils which AEM wanted me to test. This thread is about the smart coils, and it's why I chimed in with my "real world" results. I didn't chime in because they we given to me, I chimed in because they are a new product that really works and I believe in them. People can make their own decisions on what to use, but I don't believe there is another S2k engine that makes more power than us, so we've definitely put them through the torture tests and they didn't miss a beat.

As far as tuning, AEM doesn't tune my car. Devin Pearce, a friend of mine, who works for AEM provides me with tuning support throughout the season.

Just an update after a month of trying to get the AEM coils to work for my car.
I took it out because it didn't work for me.

Symptom. Slight breakup in the 4K+ rpm under boost/load in third gear with stock coils. Good A/F under boost, good strong pull. The vibration is inconsistent. Most of the time you'll get a good clean pull. Then on occasions, you'll feel a vibration that increase as boost increase to 15psi.

So I switched over the the AEM coils. The misfires was more pronounced under boost. Drives perfectly under zero psi. Misfires/ Break ups like crazy boosting to 15psi. I crimped my own coil wires. The coil wires resistance were up to spec. Different plug gaps didn't make the misfire go away. Dwell settings in AEM didn't work. Rewired to relay didn't help.

Back to stock coils and the car feels so much better.

It may need a professional install...

I'm done with it...

I was running wasted spark with the pro-12 on the civic with motec. Now running pro drag-4 with the m800 box. Works like a charm.
