We tried the pencil coils with motec but just didn't work as well as the cbr coils. This was on a b series.

I was using an AEM Twin Fire.
I'm not gonna lie carey, your the only person I have ever seen talking positive about the aem twin fire and pencil coils, evans told me to stay away, as well as a few other people i see on here, doesnt add up
Just stating my experiences. Not trying to sell parts here....haha.

At this point, I would strongly recommend the smart coils. I'm not sitting here pushing the Twin Fire / Pencil coil setup as the end all be all ignition system, I'm just saying we ran this setup on my car when it was a street car making 700hp on pumpgas/meth injection, up to over 1100hp in the race car, without any issues. It is what it is, so take it how you wish.

I am leaning towards the smart coils now, my bud keep pushing for the cbr and m&w box, but the smart coils are so much cheaper

I would definitely do the M&W box, that is the way to go. Had m&w/CBR coils in my setup with motec m4 also in b series. I really think aem just changed the coil so you can run regular plugs with them and slapped an AEM sticker on it and called it better.

exactly what i had on my b series, m4, cbr coils, m&w pro-12. this is the setup we tried the pencil coils on since you can use the cheaper plugs but just never got it to work as well as the cbr coils do.
on the s2k, i have m800, cbr coils, mw pro drag4, no problems going to 11k rpm so far...

If you're looking for cheap coils you can't go wrong with ls truck coils either.
