I'm running a larger intake elbow and filter on mine. The ID of the stock Vortech elbow is slightly smaller than the ID on the blower inlet fyi.
I have some ducting to feed cold air to the filter area also.

I run without a box on my comptech and have a cooling plate that has an opening that is near to the filter.
I have also been tinkering with the idea of building an aluminum "bottom cover" to go under the filter to channel the hot air from the radiator away and under my filter.
