Hmmmh, my engine is still OEM and I'm running 7-8 PSI normal boost on my vortech, still I'm aiming to get over 400 now. We'll see next week, when I finally have my mouting plate installed and the car will be tuned properly on my last setup changes.

But I'm talking about 400 Hp in Germany, don't know what that equals to here?

Besides that I changed a lot of things, 3'' free flow exhaust, changed intake system, wider throttle body, water&methanol injection, mugen manifold, but other than that stock.

Just my 0,02 US$

I thought 400 hp was 400 hp no matter where you were

he might be saying 400hp instead of 400whp.

400hp is somewhere around 330whp which is normal with his mods and 8psi

I'll take a stab at it with my observations

1. A 3" exhaust is not mandatory but would be nice. Any free flowing 2.75"-3" single exhaust should do well.

2. I had my head built to increase efficiency, not lower compression. If you have a great tuner you can get by on stock compression. Again, it relies heavily on the tune. A 3mm hg might lower compression too much when off boost with an SC. The car would probably feel sluggish until you got into high boost.

3. Up to about 350-375rwhp 1 step colder. 400rwhp and above 2 steps colder.

4. Can't help you on that as I'm not familiar with the CTSC

Thanks.

Just to add some info regarding question no. 4. I've looked up the Bosch recirculating valve that Comptech bundled with the kit, and from what I've read it looks like it'll continue to work till about 1 Bar (14.5 psi). Still, if you're pushing that much pressure through the stock hose, spring and plastic valve, a sturdier aftermarket replacement would prolly be a good idea.

Just a few questions to further elaborate on what's necessary:

1. What size exhaust are we talking about here? Is a 3 inch single mandatory, or is anyone achieving those numbers with something less antisocial?

2. I noticed that there seems to be no one preferred method of lowering compression amongst the sc crowd - some are running stock block with a flowed head, some using lower compression pistons, some a thicker headgasket. Turbo'ed people seem to often go for inline pro's 3mm. Is this a viable option for those with a centrifugal sc? Would the blower provide enough boost to offset the lower compression at lower revs?

3. Spark plugs - 1 heat range lower or 2?

4. ( ok newb question ) On the comptech kit, would a blow-off valve with an adjustable spring be necessary or can we use the stock recirculating valve that comes with the kit?

Thanks for your answers
in 5-6 days i will be able to answer questions 2 and 4.
