Assistance please! Fuel Pump fuse keeps blowing
Well about a month ago, my car broke down on the freeway. After fiddling around trying to figure out what was wrong, i found out it was the fuel pump fuse. I replaced it and started driving again but only for it to blow again as soon as I got back on the freeway. Pulled it over again to replace it, and it lasted about 15 min driving 70 mph. Rinse and repeated until I could make it home and leave it parked in my driveway. Anyone ever had this issue? I have the walboro 255 pump, ran fine until just then. Earlier I had taken it out to check if any of the connectors were loose but everything seemed legit. Any suggestions and comments welcome!
You're blowing fuses to keep the wires from catching on fire. Check resistance through the power cable to ground with the pump disconnected. It should read infinity. Check for loose connections, and look for frayed wires. Stop driving it until you figure it out.
I had checked for loose connections the other day when I took out the fuel pump. One of the pins were loose from the connector so I fixed that. I understand what the fuses are for, I been using the right amperage fuses. Tomorrow I'll double check the resistance reading from power to ground if I can find our multimeter. Thanks for the reply!
After starting the car today, the fuel pump does sound louder then usual and more like metal on metal. I figured when this first happened that the fuel pump might be on its way out as well. If there another fuel pump thats recommended that has the same or similar output to the walbro?
