You'll get different answers depending on where you ask this question. In the FI forum, where particpants think that an extra 100hp is the starting point I/H/E bolt-ons are generally considered laughable.

Drop into the JDM Tuning forum and you'll get a different opinion. There spending $3K on a bulbous intake with brand name and single digit power claims is considered quite de rigeur. You may need an earthing system to get full benefit though.

dude if you are going fi, that means that you are pulling out the stops for a massive power edge. so yeah get every damn thing that will give you more power.

i went turbo then built the engine, then got a bigger ic, then got aem ems etc.... i will stop at nothing

niether should anyone that goes fi

wow i should switch to decaf

You need to plan ahead to get the most benefit. What is the point in buying an $5500 SC then spending $1100 on a header for an extra 10hp (for example). For the same money you could've had a turbo and got a lot more power.

Just saying think ahead.

Any dynos to back up that statement?
For example:

SC + header
SC + exhaust
SC + test pipe
I can mail you 2 dynos from the same dyno from the same day with a Spoon header and AMuse dual taken off of one s2000 and installed on another..the first one has lost 23whp and the other one gained 25whp.This test was done by my friend here in Dubai, so I am not pulling $hit out of my a$$. If you talk about SC, have a look at the "s2000 talk forum", there is a thread about test pipe, J's header and J's 70mm exhaust, before and after dynos.

I say a J's header, test pipe and J's 70mm will give you up to 30whp more power with a SC compared to a stock set-up and there is no way you can call BS on this one That's 10% increase in power for a LOT of cash. If it's worth depens on the expectations of the topic starter, not you or me

I can only speak on the turbo side of things but an exhaust will free things up. The stock exhaust usually does not work well with high WHP numbers. I am saying 350whp+ applications. Same goes with a test pipe. With turbo you are going to have your own intake and your own exhaust manifold so it would be worth buying then haveing to replace when going to a turbo set-up.

check it.
you have to go on this quest alone. and you will learn alot. before you ever go FI.

get a cold air. AEM V2. and feel and hear the difference. you will have a blast with it.
then get a nice straight cat delete. there are plenty around, and the mechanical 02 trick works. youll enjoy that also.
if you have some cash have the hondata gasket done. this will make you smile, as the bog in traffic, on hot days, is gone.
then from there, if you drop 1300 and get a J's header, even with the stock exhaust youll be happy as hell.
by this time a clutch is gonna be in order, cause youll be making enough extra power, and driving it hard enough to have smoked the stocker. use your stock flywheel, and get either the ACT, or spec stage 2.
now by this time, youll either have saved for turbo, or just be happy NA, at which point you can decide on exhaust. a nice titanuim, for mad cash. or go turbo and have a custom 3 inch done.
this isnt a snap decision to be made on here. there is a path you must follow to get there. its like growing up.
