Battling t3h heat
Most of the melting is true if there is a small gab because it increases the chance of build up with the air flow that stagnates at the opening. Which in turn does not allow enough air to escape and causes over-heating at the opening.
Many many (there is more than I can count at Nissan and Toyota meets) that have done similar to what I have but the gap needs to be large enough to decrease the stagnant air and increase flow. My car with the hood closed will melt the washer fluid container and lid along with the lines over the turbo. Also the car under hard runs would overheat by aboute 6 degrees over what I would like it to be. Once I changed the hood opening I have never again have had these problems.
My friend who has a 240 recommended it to me after learning that many SR swaps can have some of these same issues and raising the back of the hood has become popular within this crowd. You have to keep in mind that this is not like a cowl hood. There is flow around the edges and not just on the rear of the hood. That is the main reason for its success and use to the best of my knowledge.

I wouldnt do that if i were you. The hot temps are designed to flow out from under the car, not through the rear of the hood if you remove the weather stripping. This can cause the plastic up there melt and ive seen it first hand.
well, i ordered a set to try it out. i have a temp prob and will record before air temp readings near my air filter and after hood mod temp readings.
i am not huge fan of how it looks, and would prefer a real cowl hood, but i will try it.
