I'm not gonna lie the cut I made was pretty f'd up haha. I'll shoot one to you over Facebook. I'm too lazy to upload pictures right now. Eventually in going to make a cool metal trim piece to line the hole and I'm going to cut the dumptube down semi flush to the hood. Plans are to re-route it back down under the car and put the stock hood on this fall

Ok, so I got my laptop hooked up to see what my coolant temps were like driving home from work.

The first 5 miles the coolant was about 180-190F and air intake temps were about 100F at slight throttle and dropped to about 90-95F under open throttle.

Further into the drive I got stuck in some stop and go traffic. Coolant temps raised to the high 190's for a while and then jumped to 205 before I cut my heater fans on to try to bring it down a bit. My fans were set to come on at 201 and shut off again at 195. I tried to lower the temp to about 195 and turn off at 190 but while cruising around 55-60mph my coolant temps were still rising to about 205+ and intake temps are up to 150F sometimes while not moving.

The stock temp gauge was reading all over the place compared to the AEM. I saw 11 bars (ap2 is 8 bars normal) when AEM was telling me 188F.

Not sure where to go from here. It seems like I shouldn't be seeing temps over 200F while cruising. Ambient temp is about 80F the whole time.

I tested my car a few weeks ago. With temps around 85-87, cruising on the interstate (4000rpm ~ 75mph) would bring temps up the highest. With the ac on, it would stabilize at 216 over a 45 minute constant interstate cruise.

I also have a greddy water temp gauge, and it mirrors what my aem tells me.

I think the big problem is when we put an intercooler up front, the high pressure in front of the radiator is just not as strong. So air will not naturally flow through, even at speed (compared to s2000 without an obstruction up front).

This is all just my opinion though.

So your fans are just running the whole time? Seems weird that with the max amount of airflow (highway speeds) that the temp still goes up to about 210.

So I guess the next step might be a fan shroud?

I think a fan shroud will do you more harm than good while driving.

Well seeing that my fans are on the entire time I am at cruising speed it might help to make them a little more efficient. I think 5thgen is right, my intercooler must be blocking too much air and the fans have to compensate for that.

I bought a set of smaller fans that I mounted on the back of my aftercooler to pull air through while at lower speeds or in the staging line at the strip. I thought about using these to blow air into the Rad to help....don't know if it would do anything at speed but who knows. Was just a thought
