It went alright. I got all the clips out pretty easily for the rear tray but getting the damn thing out of the car was awful haha. I ended up sitting inside my trunk with my legs hanging out while removing the hanger.

I just dropped my timing chain cover and intercooler pipes to my friend who will weld the bung and prep the pipes for powdercoating. I was thinking silver

This thing was a pain.

stock pump in the hanger...

New pump

installed

Had this guy out just in case lol

Luckily the pump worked and the car started and idled. I haven't driven it yet because I still need to put the tray and seats back in.

Ah so you bought the new AEM pump, eh? Awesome! Is it pretty quiet when it primes?

Yup, the AEM 320lph from SOS. It is a pretty audible buzz and it lasted longer than normal because the hanger was empty but once I start it and drive it this afternoon after work I will let you know how it goes. I hadn't installed the rear tray either so that made it seem louder.

Definitely the most annoying install on these cars (if you still have the soft top).

Yea I hear that, I am not looking forward to the timing chain cover though. Or the clutch for that matter.

Does anyone run a drain for their catch cans back to the motor?

I personally haven't seen/heard of anyone doing that. Some of the goopy s**t that I've drained out of my catch can I wouldn't want going back into my engine, lol.

IMO the clutch was the worst part of my build (though I didn't have to do the timing chain cover). I've done the fuel pump twice and am about to do it again. It's really not that bad and can be done in a short amount of time. Its just a bit uncomfortable for a few minutes in there, lol. Better than spending all day (or multiple days) on the clutch.

I'm surprised to hear you say that the pump sound was "pretty audible". I was under the impression that the AEM was suppose to mimic the Aeromotive 340 as far as operation and sound level; assuming that they were the same type of pump. My Aeromotive is so quiet when it primes, at least compared to the Walbro that was in there before. The Aeromotive is pretty comparable to the OEM pump as far as sound output. Or else its just been so long since I've heard the stock pump that I've forgotten what it sounded like.

Yeah, you don't want to drain the Catch Can back to the motor...that stuff is pretty nasty.

Fuel Pump has got to be the biggest PITA ever.

It was still pretty quiet and I couldn't hear it at all when the car was on. Once I get the seats and tray back in the car I am sure it will be fine.
