Best DIY Battery Relocation
Here are some pictures of the battery relocation i just completed over the weekend. I used this thread as a guide which helped me a lot!
Thumbs up to the OP for the info.
A few things I need to do/fix/add to make it perfect.
- Wire in a inline fuse on the 2nd power cable to driver side fuse box.
- Put in a cut-off switch somewhere along the main line.
- Need some thermal wrap for the power wire along the firewall. As you can see the manifold melted the corrugated tubing =(
Took me 2 days to complete. I took out both seats and interior/trunk panels. While I was at it, I pre-wired some RCA cables w/ amp turn on wire along the passenger side for future stereo mod's.
Now here are the pics.

That box looks like the summit racing battery box.

I have an Odyssey PC925 in the trunk and it's been great for a couple years. No issues running a big stereo system (2 500watt amps, 6 speakers + sub), but I do leave it on a trickle charger when it's parked in the garage.
bringing this thread back as I have a few questions regarding relocating my battery. What is the most common, best spot for ground in the trunk? roughly how many feet of wire is needed? also is a circuit breaker really needed? I dont mind unplugging the battery whenever I need to cut out the power.
When I first relocated mine to the trunk, I grounded it to one of the bolts on the factory strut bar....but I ended up having some electrical gremlins (I don't remember exactly as this was a few years back). I ended up having to run a ground back up to the factory grounding location in the engine bay, this cured my electrical problems.
I would highly recommend a circuit breaker...they are pretty inexpensive. I have used mine to kill power more times than I can count..much easier than having to disconnect the battery (my battery is mounted in the spare tire area, so hard for me to get tools in there to unhook the battery).
