By the time you factor in connectors and battery terminals the summit kit is well worth it...
yea i saw that one. the kit either comes with 1gauge or 2gauge, no 0gauge. what cable is everyone running?

I just bought a D34 optima and setting it on the passenger side in the trunk facing up in the corner. I bought everything at advanced autoparts and used my buddies employee discount and everything came up to $262. Yellow top optima, battery tray, 18 feet 2gauge wire(1.90 a foot)/ and some terminals and accesories. On ebay i found a guy that sells 0gauge for 2.60 a foot. I can PM you his name if that sounds fair to you. Reason i didnt order bigger wire is because this is my DD and my battery is completely dry at 120CCA rated for 450 and it its charge is full at 12.9...Now that is one dry battery cell. I needed the battery now basically xD. Im sure anything 2gauge or lower is good. Just make sure your connections are done very carefully. I will be using this post to do my battery relocation tomorrow hopefully!

i'm planning on using a 0gauge wire on my factory battery relocated to the trunk. I'll be using a breaker. I'll also be using an aluminum casing for the battery.

lower the gauge, does it drain the battery faster? I'm not expereienced at this.

My understanding is that we use lower gauge (thicker) wire to compensate for the trunk being so far away. That's why I used 0 gauge for the positive cable.

I found the part number for the McMaster-Carr distribution block I used and thought I'd post it here. I bought part number 7626K43 (distribution block) and 7626K86 (plastic cover for the dist block). It's a high amp 3 circuit distribution block. I'm only using one of the 3 circuits, so it might make sense to go with a single circuit one instead (cheaper, and would use a smaller cover too).

http://www.mcmaster....-blocks/=bmckna and then click the High-Amp Distribution Blocks category.

Nice battery relocation. I'm in the process of doing mine and have a few questions.

1. As for the battery cable. I have 2 power cables (both are 4 gauge) from my old stereo system that has a circuit breaker along with a inline fuse. The cable has the thin copper wires instead of the larger solid copper wires as in the factory battery cable. Can I use that cable to relocate the battery? or should i get battery cable? EDIT: Found my answer, amp power cable has thinner strands for more flexibility, therefor it's ok to use.

2. My current set-up I'm running a Oddessey P680 Mini battery in the front. On the + terminal there are 2 battery cables hooked up, 1 cable going near under the main passenger fuse box where it connects w/ another cable that goes into the firewall and the other cable connecting to the fuse box. (This is where you have the cut off switch hooked up?) The other cable from the + terminal goes to the driver side fuse box in the engine bay. My question is from the battery in the back, do you have 2 separate cables going to both fuse boxes? I thought I only saw 1 power and 1 ground.

If anyone knows the answer please chime in! I don't know too much about battery and cables. I've been doing so much research the past few days and trying to finish up this project so I can get my car back up and running.

Thanks in advance!

Question 2 is why we're using a switch or a distribution block. Run one big positive wire from the battery (in the trunk) to where your fuse box is located (engine compartment or under the fender). Then use a switch or distribution block to connect that big wire to the two smaller OEM wires. There may be other ways to do it, but you've either gotta connect those three wires together like we did or run two long wires back to the trunk. I don't know if anyone has tried running two wires all the way back there.

I finished my battery relocation today. I ran 2 4gauge wires to the back. Took me 2 days to gather up parts and finish this project. I picked up a interstate 600cca megaton battery today and put it in a black battery box. I will snap some pics tomorrow. Its already dark outside.

NS_2K. Get some pictures up dude

I began a full wire tuck over the weekend and have positioned my fuse boxes in the passenger foot well for easy access. Alot of cutting and extending of wires was necessary but looks to have worked out well! I am now wondering whether to run a small battery in the foot well also or extend the wires to the boot area. I guess at least if I run to the boot my wires wont have to be as long now...
