Best DIY Battery Relocation
I agree. I used that same location after seeing astig's pics above. Since I'm lazy, I used the OEM battery and battery tray and just cut some holes for the wires. It was super easy.

I used a distribution block from McMaster-Carr to connect the cables. (I liked dsddcd's idea of using a switch, but was in a hurry and went in a different direction. This also allowed me to avoid dealing with crimping or soldering any connections.) I mounted it under the passenger fender where the windshield washer tank used to be, since I'd already pulled everything there as part of my wire tuck. Popped a hole in the inner fender wall to route the 0-gauge wire back to the trunk, and Presto! All done.

Here's the new positive wire coming in through the fender wall and running along the passenger door sill. I got the loop clamps to hold it in place from Lowe's, along with most of the other hardware. They have body bolts too.

This thread was a big help in planning my relocation. Many thanks!!

Looking very good that distribution box it nice.
One note if you do not have a postive lug under the hood it will be a PITA to jump start, use a timing light.........
You can still run a small peice of wire into the engine bay to a lug however.

I relocated mine on the crossmember, I made an aluminum basket for it and riveted it to the crossmember. I used a braille auto battery though so this really made the relocation possible.
This is the best pic I have right now.

Neeman77, that's a slick crossmember relo. I had thought of doing something similar, but am using that space for turbo piping at the moment. What turbo setup is that? It's super clean.

Thanks! Re: the jump starting, do you just mean from a location standpoint? Or is there anything else to consider? Shortly after doing the relo I actually helped jump start a friend's car. He was quite confused when I backed the trunk of my car up to his engine bay, but it worked great.
