Default Best gearing for boost

I have 4.56 gears that came with my car when I bought it. I'll be honest the gears are a little short for my liking and I was wondering if I would be better off running stock gears. I plan on going with a turbo setup down the road and pretty much want to know if my gears I currently have (4.56) would be better to run over stock or vice versa. If I had to make a guess I would think I would want to use stock gears for the longer gear ratio on the track.

Thanks,
Elliott

You'll be shifting extremely fast. Some guys here go with a 3.90.

That's what I mean. Correct me if I'm wrong but when you drag you car you want to shift as little as possible. On the civic side of the house (had a GSR-T HATCH) guys would rather bounce off their rev limiter then to shift to fifth. Their reasoning was that it saved some time on their 1/4.

Whats the general consensus for SC guys and WHP with reference to final drive ratios?

I'm at supercharged at around 330WHP with 4.56r gears, I'd imagine turbo because you have a load of torque its not benefical for 4.10 and above due the spread of torque, SC is a little different IMO.

I'm turbo'ed at 420whp and have stock diff and gearing. I would NEVER go for 4.56 or something like that. Way too short. I would rather go with 3.90 as someone do.

it really depends on how much hp you have. on low horsepower 300-350whp applications smaller gears can be benifical because it will allow you to accelerate faster and you dont have the hp to worry about traction problems.

You can up the rev limit to negate them 'somewhat', still i think I'm at the limit.

Anyone have a link to where I can buy stock gears new? I made a thread to just switch with someone start up their gears for mine but I feel it's to risky. Not sure how much wear and tear is on their gears/diff, if they know even half of how to install the gears, and I refuse to pay for labor when I'm getting the shit end of the stick with stock gears as you get my shorter gears. I think I'll hang on to mine till I can buy NEW gears and just get help with putting them in. I know stock would be a better option once boosted.
