Default Billet JB 5857 or GT3076R?

I have seen the numerous negative posts regarding the Precision turbos reliability, but also it has seemed that for years the Precision 5857 or the 6262 were seemingly the #1 turbo choice for our cars. I recently bought a brand new JB Billet wheel 5857. It has not been installed yet, because I am in the process of rebuilding my motor. Would it be safe to say I an just get a .32 restictor and call it good? My oil pan is tapped in the upper and front most portion of my pan.. (just for reference if asked) or should I sell it and buy a brand new Garret GT3076R? is the spool similar? power delivery similar? etc.. please help me make the decsion.

You mean a .032" restrictor, and no that is too small, that size is for BB turbos.
Use a -3an feed line with no restrictor & it will be fine. Alternatively you can use a -4an feed line with a .062" restrictor.

thanks for the quick reply man, I had no Idea the difference between the size of restrictors between JB and BB.

I think you're fine. For continuity sake...and we can get everyone on the same page, where did you get the info about the .32 restrictor size? Seems like there's no standard for restrictors on Precision turbo's with F20(2) motors, and we've been burning a lot of them up. I'm not aware of any other Honda family that has this same widespread problem.

Ah yes. I believe this is one of the common misconceptions. BB turbo's need bigger restrictors because they need less oil. As a matter of fact, I'm running .032 AND .035 on mine with a -3 line.

But, there is more info needed. Where are you getting your feed line?

I need to make a thread outlining this stuff so we can set the community straight. But let's get you figured out first.

My two cents is stay away from Precision JB turbos. I would get the BB instead or get the garret.

I'm deployed right now as my memory is hazy on what it is called, but the oil feed line is t-d off of the oil sending unit just below the vtec solenoid.. I just cant for the life of me remember what exactly it is called..

^^^ thats it. So is the decision to keep in and and run the -3 AN oil feed and call it a day? or opt for the -4 AN with the .065" restictor? I would really love to give this a try, even after the few dissapoint threads the reason I chose this turbo was the MANY positvie review threads on it, and how people loved it.

Find the right restrictor combo and use the 5857. It's a great turbo. Just the oil pressure problem fried a lot of them last year or so. If u were t4 flanged I'd say bw all the way.
