Boost gauge on AfterCooled S/C
For those of you with an Aftercooled S/C, I was wondering if it would be possible to tap the aftercooler in an area near the throttle body in order to install a boost gauge. Would this work? Would I get the correct readings? Thanks.

You are better to take a read of the manifold vacuum/pressure. Tapping into the aftercooler will work but it won't give you a "real time" idea of what's going on behind the throttle plate at any given moment. Also, why tap into the aftercooler when it's so much easier to just put a "T" into one of several hoses that run into the intake manifold?

My original post was misleading. The reason why I asked about tapping the after cooler is because I bought a used aftercooler that has already been tapped. I wasn't sure if it was for a boost gauge or maybe for nitrous injection. Instead of just plugging it up I was thinking of using the hole for a boost gauge. But if its not going to read correctly then there is no point.
Actually now that I think of it, it could have been for monitoring intake temps.

Could it possibly be a Vortech aftercooler for an '04 and newer? Those ones have an extra hole in the cooler for the auxiliary injector. Like I said, it will work, but I like to see what's happening in the intake manifold. And when the throttle plate is closed, the measurement will be skewed.

Its a Comptech Aftercooler. I understand what your saying, your right. I may just use it for a intake temp gauge.

My chrage pipe (before I got the AC) has a hole tapped in it and a bolt screwed in. I never did find out what the original user used it for.
Personally I'd be looking at water injection via the hole. Especially if you're considering upping boost later on.

If you install some sort of temp gauge, I believe the viewers here would be very interested in seeing pictures of the instrument you use and a report on what those temps are. I know I would be.
