Speaking from my current experience in my build. It NEVER goes as planned.

i read 40 pages into which SC vs TC was better over all, and then which SC was the best layout and easiest to install. One of my friends works at chapin tire and automotive, and he does alot of work for hondas, he has done a few s2000s in the past... but if anyone knows some one around Zip come 29127, Prosperity, South Carolina that can do s2ks then id be glad to go there... my thought though... when i get it installed, how do i get it to the shop? will it drive ok to get there?

math pwns

comptech =6k
ems=1200
tune=600
headers=800
hfc=100
exhaust=300
______________
$8,800(without labor)

not to mention all sorts of random gauges and stuff you will end up needing! lol

so yeah, over 9 k easy.

man, im outta this thread before i get bombarded by N00b nonsense.
When was the last time you saw someone pay $6k for a comptech supercharger? There was an aftercooled kit for sale on the forums for around $3k just the other day. EMS you can get for under $1k. He already has the header/hfc/exhaust. He can definitely stay within his budget with either a turbo or s/c no doubt about it.

^ of course. you can buy all sorts of JUNK used. but for a first timer, who doesnt know the in's and out's, and doesnt have the mechanical ability or know how to take on issues that come along with 90% of the used "kits" out there.... thats just asking for trouble.

if you are "NEW" in the game, then start with "NEW" products.

Wholeheartedly disagree.

I was "new to the game" and bought a used kit and it worked out fine.

I then pieced together my own turbo kit and that worked out fine too.

If you read up on what's needed and ask pertinent questions then there's no trouble involved.

90% of the used kits are in great shape and have all of the necessary parts. Most people don't just trash their shit and lose things. You're making a gross assumption that's entirely incorrect.

Plan on taking a step forward and 2 steps back..Nothing ever goes according to plan, and NO you can not drive it to the dyno. Unless u have an extra motor laying around....tow it there.

Your going to get 100 different responses on whats better...SC or TC? Go with what you want and like. Ur gonna spend more $$ then you expect.. I promise. You will plan a 6k budget and will most likely go over that budget quite a bit. Just take your time, check our different ppls build threads and see what their getting for the $$.

Have you ever ridden in a SC or TC s2000? 350whp in a small car (assuming this is ur first turbo car) will be more then enough for you..........for now.
And i have to agree, if you read 40+ pages and have questions like this, you need to start from the basics.. Just a thought.

I'm sure your tuner or perhaps someone on here can provide you with a basemap if you ask nicely. If the shop isn't too far, you can baby it there and you should be perfectly fine. If you have a wideband installed with your kit, you can make some adjustments to the fuel maps to get you there. If you don't feel comfortable modifying the fuel/timing maps, then perhaps you should have it towed. Like anything else, common sense applies.

Not everyone wants to buy used FI kit.

It's 50/50, you paying less but there is risk. I've seen people bought used kit from other member and end up spending more than new kit cost. Figure...it's used.

I don't recommand used parts for who is new to FI or who doesn't work on under the hood. Unless they find a very trust seller on the forum or local seller...if not, i don't really recommand.
