Being understaffed is one thing. Continuing to take orders you know you can't fill/develop timely is another. Hopefully they'll get things back on track soon, because Brant really is a good guy and they do deserve the good reputation in the Miata community they've earned . I just hope they don't destroy their reputation in the meantime, that would be a real shame.
He had trouble with the S2000 prototype development, and has consistently over-promised on it. Although he suggests the project is now fully developed and only waiting on parts from suppliers, the lack of updates--pictures and dyno results--leave this claim open to doubt--especially since he described several previous iterations of the prototype as essentially done only to change them and move the release back first by weeks, and now months. At this point it's not even clear what the product is, or how much power/torque it will make.
I expect Brant is a "good guy", but he has completely botched the S2000 blower project so far. I hope he can pull it together, salvage his business, and take care of his previous customers.

I bet it will hit production. Or otherwise it will be the first time in all these years since BRP went in the forced induction business when they don't deliver - and it is highly unlikely. At least in the Miata camp their products have always been inovative and great. Their rivals in the supercharger business always followed( i.e. FFS kits or Moss/Jackson Racing now releasing MP62 kit for the Miata). But BRP have always been the pioneers, the ones who implemented the great ideas first ...
