Hello, just got a new engine built by inline pro and I was wondering if it's safe to break the motor in with the tune I used before the build? The compression has changed but the turbo kit and fuel system is the same. The tuner said I should be fine to drive and break in the engine with the old tune, is that true? Or should I have a new one made since the compression has changed?

 

You should ask inline pro what their recommendations are. It seems that every builder has different break-in techniques.

Call them to see what they say but I wouldnt take the chance of running it from an old tune.

 

^ Good read. Never heard of letting a motor idle for 30-40 minutes followed by straight dyno tune. I'd like to hear thoughts on this from the other engine builders!

 

This is what most people do. Seems only the internet spends 10000000 miles driving and "breaking it in"
Install. Fill fluids. Bring it up to temp and make sure coolant is bled and no leaks anywhere. Dump the oil and put new stuff back in and tune it.

 

Using your map will be fine but just lower your boost to wastegate pressure.

 

Now, doesn't most high performance cars like GTRs, Labos, AMGs, etc, etc go straight on a dyno too once built? Then taken for a drive before they are shipped out?

 

I'm in the middle of "breaking my motor in aswell. Tuner set my rev limiter to 5k and says to begin, I can only shift at 3k and increase it by 500rpms every tank of gas...

 

AFAIK porsche does. After the car is put together, they put it on a rolling road and test it.
