the engine will be fitted with gtx 3582r. wiseco pistons 9/1 cr , inlinepro extreme rods, 2.2 crank, and wet sump ( oem ) with accumsump and oil cooler. oil I was thinking 5w40 or 5w30

My concern is that aluminium block expand more than the steel crank and can increase the clearances more than 0.002" on the mains when its hot. is that an isue or thats perfectly fine? because the rule is 0.001" per 1" of jornal diameter, mains diameter is around 2.1 inches, so 0,002 suposely is fine and within the rule.

After looking at the stock tolerances, I am starting to think that the cause of the bearing failure had something to do with the stock bearing clearance. I am not blaming it totally on that alone, but I would have never ran that of type of clearance on a motor that will see big power.

I've got a new short block that has been sleeved by ERL which is almost done. We are running acl race bearings at .002 clearance on both mains and rods. I've build tons of motors at that spec without any bearing issues.

Did you experience any drop of oil pressure with that clearances on both main&rod bearings ??

when you run larger clearances you have to accomodate with a sutiable oil, which will keep you oil pressure up, but there are a lot of factors, read "driven"s info on oil clearance and oil weight, pretty good read
