If you find the right thread, (and it is seriously old) there was a small percentage of people who got crank walk and just happened to use ACT clutches. Most people recommended them because they felt like stock. The early ACT clutches had much more clamping force than the newer ones, (I THINK that the part was changed about 3-4 years ago) and so the newer parts have less clamping force which was supposed to address the crank walk issue, even though the dude who owns ACT posted here that he did not believe the clutches were the source of the problem.

SOmebody might be able to chime in with more detail but that is all I remember. There were theories that it was the ACT clutch, there were theories that it was something else, and not everybody who had an ACT got crankwalk, and some people who had crankwalk did not have ACT clutches so I can't say what was at fault. All I know is that the crankwalk issue was a bigger deal on this board before they updated the part, and I have not heard about it since.

I dont remember anyone getting crankwalk w a clutch other than ACT, but the rest sounds right on.

to add to this -- I've felt numerous ACT clutches both new and old pressure plates in a few s2ks... each one i've felt has varying pedal pressure. Some are fairly light while others are very very heavy. I am guessing this is either attributed to install or quality control and I am leaning towards the latter.

Is there any way to verify that you have a revised act pp versus the old style? Maybe there is a different number of teeth, a part number or a different size piece compared to the old style?

diaphragm part # is 273, old is 108

also, any ACT pp produced after May of 09 should be the new pp

go with the SOS sport if you're going FI with the car. I have had 0 noise/issues with mine. It is very obviously underrated as well.

I really like my Competition Clutch Stage 2 clutch package I got from GT Motoring. Feels like stock, no stuttering/shuttering/whatever the hell. It can handle 320ftlbs of tq if I recall correctly. Got it $400 shipped from them with the throwout bearing/pressure plate/everything you need. Whenever my clutch goes I will most likely be replacing it with the same one. Or a stage 3 if I get more power.
