Comptech have since advised to NOT use these and go with soldered connections.
comptech doesn't recommend it either way. quality crimp connectors are sometimes better than soldering

I'm not going to debate with you the efficacy of crimp connectors. All my Vortech connections are crimped and I've had no problems ever.
However, you must realize that of the 1/2 dozen or so Comptech owners who have PMd me over the past couple of years about these sorts of symptoms, ALL have been resolved with a SOLID solder of all connections. Virtually ALL have given the MAP code. It was ALWAYS because the signal from the MAP clamp was not getting through to hide boost or the connection was so bad, that no signal was getting through at all.
Crimp connections "can" be as good as solder BUT Comptech has come to the realization that people are more apt to screw up a crimp than they are to screw up a solder, since it takes more time and effort to do it. This is not to say that all solders will be good because if Murphy has his way, something can always go wrong.
Ben, you seem to know a lot of stuff, but then, you also seem to ask a lot of stuff, thereby meaning that you don't know it all. Hell, I don't know it all. In this case, your information and knowledge may have betrayed you. You've gotten yourself into trouble before by making blanket statements and by taking a hard line. Perhaps, every once in a while being a bit humble may serve you better.
i most def don't know everything and if i even began to imply that i did i apologize cuz i am not a know it all. i'm very candid.
and to be candid, shad at comptech who is their lead tech guy said for himself, it shouldn't really matter. crimp is almost preferred, but not all crimps are equal just like solders as you point out. soldering is fine, but there are greater benefits to a quality crimp job than soldering. not that i really care, but all ALMS teams crimpt heir connections on their race vehicles.
i still can't see how a soldering job addresses heat soak issues with the s2000 N/a and supercharged (i really don't given give a flying buck about turboed s2000s.. i think it's a huge waste of time for little reliable gains).
i experience bogging/heat soak issues with my comptech s2000 in prolonged stop and go traffic regardless of temps. it was a cool 65 yesterday and i got a good amount of boggin only to be alleviated once i got some moving air into the intake.
