A few things.....

1.check is to make sure the fan for the AC is working. (the AC should be somewhat cold to the touch when running it should be warm when its been sitting for a bit)
2.Those bosch bypass valves can rip the diaphram inside could have gone bad...
3.try using the stock fpr or an AEM one...
4.Make sure you are using a new copper washer on the fitting from the FPR to the fuel rail ( also make sure the torque is correct) they can leak there.
5.The hoses connecting the supercharger to the AC and from the AC to the TB are annoying and have to be aligned perfectly..
6. Try spraying a little bit of spray adhesive on the inside of the belt
7. also try removing the belt see how your car runs.
WLAURENT is right you do have a decent percentage increase of power.. could there be sumthin wrong with the dyno?

I'm going to take a printout of this thread with me and pore over it with the guy who installed it, though I'm inclined to think that those who have pointed to a problem pre-install might be onto something. Wlaurent is right that a 48% increase is significant and shouldn't be dismissed, but I have also driven other cars with the same setup and it's a very different experience to drive the other cars (hence why I believe that the dyno was giving correct measurements). I'm just not willing to take the financial hit that I have for the gains I've gotten out of it. The horsepower per dollar is just not worth it in the current state.

Not sure if it was asked - have you done a compression and leak-down test? I know of one local NA car that is an absolute pig compared to others but seemed to run smooth/fine - found out he was only getting 100 psi on 2 cylinders when the other 2 were at 200 psi. One cylinder was valves, the other rings/cylinder wall.

Yes, we did this Sat night. All cylinders checked out fine.

One of our local guys has suggested that maybe I have a potato stuck in my tailpipe somewhere. We're all pretty puzzled.

There are a lot of good ideas here posted: plugs (a foul plug replaced can fix), boost leak (always keep searching: although if it's reading 5 psi), the percentages since you are at 170 base: if you were at 200 as a base, you would be around 275 or so at 5 psi as Wlaurent said, the FR could be a big deal: leaned out that much as you crossover Vtec? On my most recent tune, we found out that I leaned out big time at 7.5-8K on the 255 lph, so we went to the 255 hph on Walbro and not a problem since so I wouldn't have a fuel problem. I have gauges all over the place and thank god we placed the fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail: hence we found my culprit.

After verifying ESM connections, ESM output, and checking vacuum lines I found the air control vacuum check valve installed the wrong direction. It is the first item in the pulsed secondary air injection system. It was denying vacuum, causing the CEL and resulting P0411 code. After reading the OEM svc manual, it's evident this won't increase boost (reportedly @ 5psi w/a 7psi pulley) or change a/f ratios (correct me if I'm wrong folks). It is nothing more than something the EPA likes

Today my near-stock AP1's baseline was 1HP less than hers, so we can eliminate anything wrong with the motor before she went to a FA configuration.

We changed the plugs yesterday. The fuel smell from the exhaust has ceased. I'm hoping the rich condition on the bottom is improved (and fuel economy).

I think it's time for another run on the dyno - monitoring a/f and boost..... then an eManage and some tuning. Don't put your wallet away just yet Sondra

All in all a productive couple of days

Talking

Today Sondra finally returned to the dyno (after installing cooler plugs and correcting CEL vacuum issue). Her first pull (on the same Dyno Dynamics dyno)netted 282RWHP with much better a/f ratios, boost pinned @ 7psi. We added a little fuel, brought the a/f ratio into a very safe window and netted 278.

Makes me want to go FI!
