Default Comptech SC air filter - you guys running the afe

I took my foam filter out today to clean it. It still looks pretty decent but it's beginning to deteriorate after 6 years.

Search led me to a thread about the aFe 24-55507. I'm ready to pull the trigger but wanted to check with you guys who have used it to see if you're still using it or have moved on to something newer/better. Any other input appreciated as well.

A couple questions as well:

Is 24-55507 the correct part number?

Will the K&N recharge kit work just as well as the aFe?

Thanks.

btw - just got my Novi 1000 back from 928 Motorsports after a rebuild due to a leaky front seal. Although the rebuild took a little longer than advertised due to Paxton changing bearing sizes since my blower was built I highly recommend them if you need this service.

I use AFE, i don't remember the part number but there is a thread on this about a year ago if you do a search, you could probably find it. The stock CT foam filter flows great but its not very good at trapping particles, the AFE or KN cotton style filters flow just about as well but much better protection. Yes you can use the KN recharge kit on the AFE filters, same stuff, different color.

Good to know about 928 Motorsports, my seals are starting to weep and will need one at some point. How much did they charge? And I was curious if they had an upgraded more efficient wheel for the NV1000 that could be swapped in during the rebuild? Be great to squeeze out some more power if possible. You know if they offer this?

Yeah I saw that thread and it had a link to a thread from circa 2005 that linked to sparkplugs.com but they don't carry the filter anymore apparently. The 24-55507 has a 5.5" ID and seems to be a perfect fit. 4wheelonline.com has them for $47.80 and Amazon has the recharge kit for $9.63. I'm going to buy both in a minute. I'll post back if it's not the right fit on the filter.

Thanks Junky.

Gretchen and Carl at 928 are good folks. The bearings are quieter and so far so good on the upgraded seals. The occasional "gravels in a can" noise is gone and all that's left is the whistle.
