Default Comptech SC Pulley Change

What does it take to change the pulley on the blower? Just bought a 3.0" and I'm looking to put it on myself. Do I have to pull the entire blower off the car, or is there an easier way to do it? Thanks!

im thinking you will have to pull the bracket back far enough to get to the bolt that holds the pulley. I havent dont this since i installed mine with the 3" but i been thinking about cutting grooves in it and looked at it the other day and looks like i would have to pull it back off to get the bolt out....

Yea, the visible bolt (closest to the valve cover) just rotates the pulley. I'm assuming there is another one that's not visible to hold it in place. Anyone that knows for sure, please chime in.

It's 1 bolt only, the one in the center of the pulley. There's a keyway behind the pulley, which makes everything work.

I've replaced pulleys both on and off the car. Personally, I prefer it doing off the car vs trying to work around it. An impact gun would be ideal. Otherwise need to find a way to hold the pulley in place without spinning (e.g. wrap a belt around it and hold it still)

14mm wrench for the pulley bolt and a belt wrench to hold the pulley in place. You have to remove the SC belt obviously to perform the operation. Loosen the Pulley first, then Back off all of the SC face plate mount bolts to the amount you need for the pulley to clear the cylinder head. The smaller pulleys require less face plate backing out. Its a simple strait forward operation. Should take you 15min.

The way i've always done it is hold the nut on the compressor side while breaking the blower pulley loose. My compressor side had a line drawn on it with marker and I've always checked after I've loosened or tightened the blower pulley to make sure it hasn't moved. Never once had an issue with it.

I've done the same.

Risky and not necessary. Go buy a $10 belt wrench and keep the loosening isolated to just the pulley side. That impeller is trq to a specific amount and spins extremely fast with very tight tolerances, I would not use that nut as a tug of war with the apposing side. You guys have been lucky so far.

When I changed mine, I think I just left the belt on and loosened the bolt... hard to remember, I had that thing on and off so many times... I can install a CTSC in under 15 minutes now....well maybe not that fast, but you know what I mean. Also, beer makes the job quicker....
