I called comptech and they recommend 2 additional changes when adding their S/C.

1. Heavy duty clutch like the exedy one peace kit.
2. Reinforced differential housing.

You must realize that Comptech is motivated by 2 things.
1. They are making recommendations based on the "lowest common denominator". IE, those who will drive the crap out of the car, launch at every stop light, never give the drivetrain any kind of rest or cooldown between thrashings and are delinquent in fluid maintenance. They "have to" recommend based on these sorts of "worst case scenarios".
2. They are in the business of selling the re-inforced housing.

Many, many supercharged S2000s have been running just fine with the stock clutch and stock diff without issue for years. I'm one of them. My car is over 5 years old and blown for almost 3 years now. It is only this past season that I have started to detect a little clutch slippage during the heat of the summer. If I change the clutch, I will do so as an "upgrade", not as a necessity.

Your original question is whether it is "REQUIRED"..... and your answer is NO it is NOT required with the Comptech Kit.

If you call Comptech they will ALWAYS "RECOMMEND" that you upgrade.

Nobody knows your driving style except yourself. There are many owners who have the setup Vortech/Comptech that are stock clutches and diffs.

If you like to bang on your car....then you answered your own question.

Call any Honda Dealership and they will give you a whole list of "RECOMMENDATIONS"...

I would amend that statement to say that if you're the type that wants warranties, forget about the SC altogether since any drivetrain warranty you may have on the car will be toast.
There is an exception to this. If you get the Comptech S/C installed at a Comptech authorized Honda or Acura dealer, an "arrangement" has been made to ensure that your car will be "taken care of" in the event that something goes wrong. They will still honor the conditions of the factory warranty even though it is outside of Honda corporate's domain.

I would NOT recommend If you stick with a used AP2 kit from Comptech then you are guaranteed the right CARB EO#, the improved intake elbow, AC arm for STB's and bushing on the blower bracket.
Did Comptech issue an Improved intake elbow ?

Yes, the new one is hard plastic and has a larger flat spot where the intake rubs the fan shroud. However, it STILL rubs the fan shroud LOL. about 50 bucks from Comptech.

I've given my thoughts on "taken care of" before. Maybe I'm coming at this from nothing but bad experiences with auto repairs and dealers in general so I won't comment further
