Cooling setups on your boosted cars

I cant wait until brushless technology makes it into 12 or 13" spal fans. Thatd be awesome, theyd be more powerful quieter and require less amps! I see they only offer brushless fans but only huge ones not 12" just yet...

alright bud.
1. thanks for using my photos as a reference (see my post here if you're questioning what i'm talking about: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-fo.../#post24286892 )
2. they're 13" curved spal fans. not all 12" and 13" fans are just plug and play with the oem connectors, especially the 13". i tried to install straight 13" blade fans and it would keep blowing a fuse. pretty sure it depends on how much amps the fans require. i had to ask a spal engineer to confirm that the 13" straight and curved fans i was trying to use, needed a relay kit.

Custom V mount with a 76mm thick double pass radiator and a single non shrouded 16" spal fan. Oil cooler as well. Keeps temps at 195* water and 230*oil on a 95 degree day for 20 minute sessions no problem, I think it would do it all day. Temps don't climb toward the end of the session and it doesn't seem to heat soak

Also if your fans are coming on while you are at speed 1. Your heat exchanger is not big enough, or 2. You do not have proper airflow through the heat exchanger. (More likely if you have an aftermarket radiator.) You have to duct and seal the inlet, and give the air a place to go after the heat exchanger, i.e. vented hood.
Fans coming on while you're doing anything above sitting in traffic is a band aid. Shrouds limit airflow at speed, but help with airflow when the car is not moving. Generally for track use you do not want a shroud if you can keep the car cool at idle on a hot day.
