Btw for you debaters this car in particular has never had any oil issues. Always checked on a weekly basis when I pumped gas into this car. Always perfect. Oil was changed very often as well.

So you are within spec. You gonna change the sub-heading of your post to not bash ACT?

What he said.. People ought to really try and figure out what the problem is before trashing a brand (in this case, nothing is even wrong).

On that note.. is crank walk even common in s2k's? I hear about it periodically from time to time, but I'm going to bet it has to do with a lack of oil, like other folks said. I've never heard of hondas having serious problems with crank walk. The only cars/engines that had real problems with crank walk were the 2g DSM motors. If you were into imports years ago, everyone knew someone that had a DSM that had crank walk (my brother's eclipse had the problem).

What's really sad about this thread is that the OP's crank play is within the spec that Honda would have allowed it to go out the door - there might not be any difference in crank play between now and when the engine was built. Still, I guess haters gonna hate

Another ACT owner chiming in. My car has seen hard track use and daily driving in traffic for 68k miles on the ACT clutch/pp, with zero issue.

better? (changed the title thing)

This was what I was told by my shop. He even showed me the play when I stopped by. Every time he moved it back and forth it made a loud thunking noise. Told me what causes this generally. Thought it was too much play. I didn't ever think about measuring it until the helpful members on here told me to.

Next time before bashing your fav companies I should do more research and pm the helpful guys on here first before making a post. But you guys gotta realize people do make posts because they don't know, they don't make them to piss you off for you to start being a sarcastic E-Prick to. Just hoping that the S2k community would have helped me like the few members did.

Thanks for the ones that helped and posted actual advice for me to check.

Hope to have new dyno numbers on here for you guys soon.

The tolerance is on the loose side but it will work. I know of two other guys in our area who's motor got trashed dued to the thrust washers. We have another customers car at the shop that had issues with the thrust washers as well and it was some no name clutch. When he brought it in, you could see the crank move noticeably as he stepped on the clutch. We took his oil pan off and found both thrust washers at the bottom of it. I am not sure what is causing this exactly but that is alot of play for OEM specs.

I am very shocked to find out that Honda allows that type of tolerance gap. They are the experts so I'm not questioning them, but it scary to see how much play there is on a motor that spins that high. Only time will tell I guess.

If you are worried with the clearance being on the high side, replace the thrust washers. It's not like the engine has to be completely torn down or removed from the car to do that.
