But that's only half the problem. The rest of the problem is what caused it in the first place. If it was caused by detonation you have a tuning issue. Get that looked at or you'll be going through this exercise again.

sounds like a shitty tuner...with that kinda power you are def well out the danger range for stock hg...so to fry the rings on that kinda power esp after only a month...

I really hope it wasn't the tune.. I paid top dollar at possibly the most reputable shop in Dallas to get the tune done.

Doubt it's the rings, it's prolly the ringlands. The area between the rings. Valve seals don't usually smoke @ idle, only WOT and decel.

Or you could have tapered the cylinders, which means the pistons/rings can't seal and you are getting blowby.

If the compression numbers aren't bad, you can continue to drive it and not worry until you have time for a rebuild.

Mostly like, it's going to need pulled and repaired regardless of the problem.
Agreed.

"Rings" was generalized in my statement. In our case, it actually was in fact, the ringlands. I'll try to post a picture of the piston later.

Dang man. I was afraid this was going to be the case. Rings or ringlands it is. Holler at me when you do the compression test. I wanna know what the deal was.

I'm hoping it wasn't a deal with the tune...did T1 rush through it?

its your ring lands, SAME thing happened to me, if u had a catch can your catch can would be smoking as mine did...at idle it was very rough and the motor just gave up.

If you caught it soon enough like i did, and nothing came loose, your cylinder walls might not have taken a beating

Sorry to hear for your troubles, but its time to rip the engine apart.
This is probably what your going to see..(keep in mind these are h22 pistons from a f24c stroker)

I doubt its the ring lands, the rings will fail way before the ringlands on the s2000 motors, due to the forged pistons. Ive seen shattered rings with little to no damage to the ring lands on the F2x motors. My first motor had a cracked ring and it did the exact same thing. Leak down test proved it. However I added a catch can and drove on it for another year before I rebuilt it. It made a mess of the cylinder wall though.
