Are you talking about the damanging affects to a forged piston or stock?
My rings were in perfect condition and that's what my pistons looked like

I shattered rings too. Bad enough that is wouldn't fire on one cylinder. The ring lands were damaged but not broken.

Either way, a rebuild was required.

The stock s2000 pistons are forged. as for your pistons, if I remember correctly you were running prelude cast pistons, thats why you had ring land damage.

Ours were forged CP pistons... But yes either way the bottom end is going to eventually need to be rebuilt.

Mine had a few hairline cracks in the ring lands as well as some heat on the valve reliefs.

The rings looked fine.

I've had a few motors over the years do this to me, one F20. Its “blow by” and means your motor is done. My F20 failure was due to fuel washing the pistons, not detonation. But any piston damage where it no longer seals in the combustion will blow by and out the breather. You will see at idle and more when you rev the motor if it’s bad typically. Sorry for the bad news.
