Default Creating A Monster S2K

Hey guys, I have a 2005 Honda S2000. I bought this car a year ago as my daily driver and absolutely love it! I'm preparing for a monster build next spring / summer and I'm wanting an over the top ridiculous weekend exotic killer. Previously I've been keen on picking up a Toyota Supra and pushing it to about 800 - 1000hp on Pump Gas. I've had an easy time piecing together the price / parts / requirements for such a project, and my initial plan was to keep my S2K for my daily driver and the Supra for my project.

However, I've recently been contemplating picking up a different daily driver (Maybe SUV as I'm into sports) and completely rebuilding my S2K Instead! I however am having more difficulty finding the answers I need. I've contacted a high end tuning shop in Calgary and I felt they were talking out there ass...

First off I have heard of people running 600 - 700WHP on there S2K. Assuming I build up the engine completely, how reliable would this be as a weekend warrior?
Secondly, what kind of numbers would this bring in the quarter mile, would it be able to keep up to an 800+ HP Supra, or would traction be an issue?
I understand the S2K frame is not a beefed up as the Supra so will my actual body be able to handle such power?
Lastly how drivable will a 700HP S2000 be, I want to be able to run it without melting my tires through all gears.

My next batch of questions are regarding actual build requirements such as Turbo kit, Engine build ETC and how much I would be roughly looking parts + labor$ I'm curious if I can make this happen for less then 100K. I also plan on completely rebuilding the suspension / Wide body kit so I can run massive rear tires / CF roof ETC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

You would have to strengthen your whole drivetrain (diff, axles, gearbox) if you want to have any chance at all to kill exotics without breaking anything.
There are enough turbo build topics in the forced induction forums, to help you find the right kit for the right power.

I'm driving a 430hp turbo S with 235 width semi slicks and find the car very easy to drive. Ofcourse this is totally different from a 700whp car, so others will have to share their experience about that.

Also there is a dutch company (Suprasport) working on a supercharger / turbo combi setup for an S2000 that will have to run 600+ bhp. Perhaps this is something for you

The engine / chassis is strong enough to hold 600-700whp. If you want to make it reliable, lightly building the engine wouldn't hurt, but like mentioned above, the weak link in this car is the transmission / drivetrain. You would be looking at a Ford 8.8 rear end and a v160 supra transmission at the least if you want it to hold together for awhile at those power levels.

I'll leave it at that and let the more experienced guys chime in, as I've only just read build threads on here about it

Send the block out for sleeving and building, laskey/inlinepro or some other reputable builder.
Pauters/CP's for the rod/piston, all ferrea for the valvetrain. Could do cams/porting but not really up on who or whats good, my head has stock ports and cams.
v160 conversion and a ford 8.8 from full blown.

That would be a solid drivetrain. Turbo kits I would go either full-race or full-blown, divided t4 with a borg 67mm or ball bearing precision 67mm.
Full-blown for the fuel system. Body stuff is all up for debate, but nice wide wheels if you did a widebody and some 315/30/18 or 315/35/17 drag radials would probably do wonders and not be that tall.

I agree with scorpion on almost everything but turbo choice, i would go for a turbo in the 62mm range for a 700hp s2k

Thanks for the guidance guys! I'm going to spend most of my day searching these forums to piece together every last bit of information I can find.
I'm starting to think I can create a monster S2K that could leave monster Supra Owners scratching there heads!

I just wish the markets were not getting hammered today.... At least I've neutralized my option portfolio against directional change! Just need to wait for the call options I wrote to expire This build will be costly...

(What about Insurance)? If I throw in 60+K into this car, would I be able to insure it for its value incase of an accident, or would I be SOL) I better phone the insurance company.

If you are planning on throwing 60K+ into this car just buy a higher performing car to start with imo. 20k ok that's not too bad but if really planning to spend that much why not start out with a much higher performing car to begin with? Get a z06 and boost that. Will be much more reliable and make a ton of power.

Because modded Z06s are everywhere and the look on Vette owners faces as you blow em away is priceless

If I could do it over again I wouldn't have modded any car, just kept the cash. I bought this car when I graduated college, never intended to mod it, I don't know what the F happened, lol

Haha I guess that's true. I couldn't imagine dumping that much into an s2k though. Unless I was rolling in millions to spend.
