So yeah, are people running 10+ psi now on stock engines? I have a buddy that's running 13psi on his Vortech and was wondering if that's safe? Specs are below:

AP1
Vortech
13psi belt
upgraded injectors
AEM EMS

That's about it. Last time I had my SC on my car and after some research (this was 2005ish), anything past 10psi was bound for a blown engine. so people were only running the 7psi and 9psi belts.

Please let me know, don't have fellow S2K'r blowing his sh!t up

thanks lol

don't look at the PSI look at the horsepower since 10 psi from one setup isn't the same amount of power from another kit at 10 psi.

to answer your question guys are pushing 500whp+ on stock motors, 400whp easily. like carlo said the tune determines whether it's "safe" or not. good tune and you might be able to run 500whp all day, bad tune and 300whp could kill the motor.

moral of the story, don't go cheap on the ECU, fuel, and tune

Check out member "9kfever" (or something like that). I believe he was running 13psi on a Comptech kit, tuned by Mase.

I think he is a mod on here somewhere....

No way people are running 400+rwhp with just bigger injectors + turbo/SC + good tune.

Yes they are and it's becoming more and more common.

Not trying to flame you but if you had invested some time into reading this forum you would know that there are people running 400+ on stock engines (no 2mm or 3mm head gasket).

if you search through some recent threads you'll see a good amount of 400+whp guys with 100% stock motors. some guys choose to run the headgasket as an extra margin of safety but you don't have to if you don't want to. personally I'm going for 500whp when I get Mase's turbo kit on my stock motor.

on a different note, KewlWhip your car looks sick! love that body kit, not too crazy.

ok, just making sure. I would search, but this forum has one of the worst search functions I ever seen for a forum.

First of all it's a pulley that changes psi-not the belt. I'm running 12psi with no problems on stock internals. Thinking about 14psi next. As mentioned above everything depends on the tune. Also, cooling is critical which is why I'm using water-meth to cool the charge.
