do i really need a turbo timer?
With my eclipse, cruising on the freeway at 70mph would heat up the exhaust manifold enough for it to glow. It took a whole lot more than a minute idling to cool it off enough to shut it down, and this was just after cruising on the freeway on a cold night.
That's not normal. Maybe your timing was very retarded or your manifold wasn't well flowing.
And either way, idling under the hood whilst stationary is not the most efficient method of removing heat. Cruising for the last few minutes of the drive with air running through the radiator and engine bay is.
