Engine Noise -- New Pics
Yes. To all of the above. The new motor was ran with the original TCT and made the noise. I took a TCT out of my original motor and reloaded it per instructions from Helm's manual and installed it (it was fine in my motor). Same noise still. I do have a new TCT on order and will try that before I pull the head. Valve lash is perfect.
Would a borescope help me any before I pull the head? If cylinder walls are clean, does that rule any of the piston/rod slap out?
I appreciate everyone's input...

Did this motor make noise before the kpro swap? Were the right parts used for the (Kpro) install. TDC tapping the valve cover? Right valve cover on?
Just tossing out ideas.
Sounds louder in the back (cyl.4)

TCT is likely not it but should be ruled out still.
I've seen engines with bad piston slap AND rod knock blow decent compression and "acceptable" leakage numbers, and still make great power.
Harbor Freight has a cheap borescope ($120?) IIRC. I am not sure if it, or any borescope will fit down the plug hole well. I know the HF has mirror attachments that I think clip and may fall into the cylinder and be difficult to retrieve.
Suffice to say I've had zero luck w/using borescopes for cylinder wall inspection. If you can find someone with a good one you might be able to, though. Good ones aren't cheap, though.

Is the yellow plastic timing chain guide worn maybe?
Nope, a good borescope is very expensive but you can get them with a 1/8" fiberoptic cable that will fit into the plug hole nicely and has a full 180+ deg bend radius . I used them all the time in the aerospace industry. Hopefully he knows someone or some place that he can borrow or rent one from.

Check the spark plugs. See if the number four cylinder is darker than the rest. look inside the plug hole for a cyl that is more oily than the others. Sounds like a piston skirt, but its hard to tell via the internet.
It is NOT the TCT.

my car before replairs
Crappy video but I had the same problem. It ended up being cooked valves. I also had the pistons rubbing against the sidewalls. Good luck with the fix.
