See my post in this thread...
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry14773274

since posting that, i have changed a few things and will detail them below

the cutout is still controlled via the uC

I have upgraded manifolds to a 'sidewinder' style so the down pipe route has changed.
For this setup, the down pipe goes vertically at the firewall and the cutout is placed at the bottom for optimal flow. That is to say, the air does not have to divert to exit the cutout.

I used a Y pipe to create the cutout attachment point, as I didn't have the equipment to cut a section of pipe on the 90 degree for the cutout to mount to. The other part of the Y pipe goes to the stock mufflers.

Hope that makes sense.

I have not dynoed the new set-up yet as this was just completed a few weeks ago.

picture time again, we'll see if webshots works
new setup...

thats pretty cool setup.

off topic, sad that 18t with a disco potato turbo can only muster 237whp that thing needs way more boost and a tune.
that might be awhp, although still a bit low. I was making about that with the next size down turbo (GT28R) on my 1.8T/Audi. I have a disco potato now but have no idea on power. My tune is definitely conservative and my motor has over 100k miles on it so I'm not too worried about getting more from it. I'm running around 22-23 psi on pump gas. One thing to note, the 1.8T heads don't flow very well. The pre-2000 ones are definitely the best flowing 1.8T heads, but still don't flow well compared to the honda stuff.

its a GTI, so unless they did some serious work on it its FWD. dont get me wrong, i had a 2002 jetta 18t with couple boltons. trapped 101 on race gas. at best i was around 215-220whp. thats why i was disapointed. i would not swap a turbo for 20whp.

i was expecting more like 280ish to the wheels. and i agree that 20v head was junk. what a bad design, and even though it had low compression forged internals the ceiling was like 400whp.

im thinking of going this route as well.. but i hear that a lot of the cutouts tend to burn out after a few months due to the heat.

i'd love to have an e-cutout instead of driving around with a big flag sticking out of my rear.
