It's possible if he was running a cutout and the stock exhaust (think civic stock exhaust, not S2000 stock exhaust)

If opening up a cutout causes your boost to increase 8-10 psi (which I have never seen happen), then your wastegate isn't doing its job at all.
I'm just going on what my tuner said he had seen with tuning cars with Y pipes, that had restrictive exhaust to free flowing dumptubes. I would be going from a stock exhausted s2000 that made 384whp to whatever a 3.5 DP to Y pipe w/electronic exhaust valve would make.

I'm not sure if that 75 horsepower thing was in reference to me? but i dont recall writing that in any part of this thread?

Someone else wrote about the "75hp gain on a turbo honda" (it was probably mentioned on the QTEC website). A properly sized wastegate will be able to control boost pressure (whether full exhaust or open downpipe).

ran it a long time ago on a s2000 with a gt30r turbo. gained between 17-22 rwhp depending on boost. Had some troubles as indicated with leaking so I used high temp rtv..but the throttle plate stayed slightly open some times...and the motor fell off a few times due to exhaust vibration. I tried locktite too..It required just too much maintenance...
