Experienced AEM Tuner Help Needed
Alrighty then... I got my etune from Evans. Tried to load it, couldn't. Firmware issue - Evans is not using the latest due to some bug issues. PITA trying to get that straight - more over my concerns from not knowing WTF I'm doing and afraid to do something wrong.
Got the firmware stuff straight, loaded the tune, started fine but would barely run once warmed up. My Innovate wideband wasn't being recognized. Evans set the cal file up correctly for an Innovate wideband, my tuner wired it and had his cal file as an AEM wideband (wrong? probably, I don't know). I changed Evans wideband setup to match my (EX)tuners setup and match the wiring, it worked but couldn't even get closed to calibration - possibly user error, again I don't know WTF I'm doing.
Emailed Evans, got a nearly immediate response with a tweaked cal. Loaded it, tried to calibrate the wideband and got much closer, but still not right. ARF running a bit rich, but safe.
I had to go get gas, cautiously keeping RPM's under 5,000. I can already tell the difference though - a big difference. The willingness is back!!! Nice little drive and she was eager to go. 4th gear, 2000 RPMS, no bucking at all - smooth off throttle, smooth on throttle.
At this point two things are certain - I don't know WTF I'm doing and it really pisses me off. On a positive note, Evans and AEM folks have been very responsive and helpful. With their help, I'll get it right.
I think I'll taking off work tomorrow to learn more and get this thing going. It's legit though, nearly three weeks without my new baby has made me sick.

Good to hear that Evans e-tune is working as it should; a few back-and-forths should be expected to get it running right.
read the aem tuning guide that i think comes with aem program. there is a lot going on at once in the program. if its setup load vs rpm way, then the basics is at x rpm at y load provide this fuel and this ignition. then look at A B C D E F G etc variables and provide H I J K L M etc modifiers.
basic tuning lesson complete.
