Default Experts, take a look at my plugs

The previous owner had the OEM plugs in my car which is SC'd. I swapped them today for NGK 6097 (BKR7E). Needless to say they were a step to hot and the gap looks enormous compared to the .035 that's recommened on the replacement plugs.

Here are some pics, let me know if there's anything alarming here.

Thanks

They look fine, a little clean on some plugs but nothing alarming. You did the right thing by swaping them out with the new ones and gaping lower. Have you checked the AFR's on the setup yet?

^^^ I havent yet, I just installed a B&M fuel pressure gauge and will make an appointment for some dyno time next weekend to check it out. I figure if I'm still having issues now I can bump my fuel pressure and know what it is instead of blindly turning it up.

EDIT:

If you mean at all, then yes, it was detonating after 7k and getting to about 12.5:1 AFR in that same RPM range so I've been basically keeping it out of VTEC until I got that worked out. It's a total cock tease to drive right now but I know being safe is the right thing to do until its where it needs to be.

good job on getting the gaps closed! A/F might be a little lean, but i doubt what your hearing is detonation, more likely its misfiring! The new plugs with narrower gaps will help the misfire issue! If its still misfiring at .036, lower it a bit more! how are you going to tune?

Since its a stock Comptech kit with AC and just mufflers I planned to just bump the fuel pressure a few lbs with the Comptech FPR.

Get it on the dyno and have the FPR tuned.
Giving it more fuel for safety and too much in the process will make the car run like a dog, especially down low.
Agreed with the above post, what you thought was detonation was probably a misfire. I dont really see any signs of detonation on the plugs.

Yup, thanks again. I'm making an appointment today to see if I can get it in this coming weekend to get the AFR right.
