[QUOTE=flexer,Jan 28 2008, 04:40 PM] Spoolin, what are you talking about 12's is not safe.

Before you respond to this comment just think, you don't know his AIT, his cooling mods, his timing curve, his altitude.

Also before you make a comment you and I both know the mathematical formula for peak torque combustion lands a A/F value in the low 12's.

So if the car had a proper cooling system, good timing curve, good fuel and fueling set-up, the 12 is ideal for power and safty as it would lead to ideal combustion and lower EGT's.

I would not jump on your comment if he had posted his entire set-up and he was running a small turbo out of its efficiency, or a small intercooler, or had a bad fueling set-up, or was high on the duty cycle of his injectors
THEN: like you I would chime in and say hey, maybe dump some extra fuel in there to make up for your _________ in your set-up.

To say running a 12 A/F ratio is dangerous by itself sounds like someone who has listened to to much rumor on the honda-tech boards.

I respect your comments spoolin because you usually have great one's to say, but this one seems a little shallow.

WOW! Be very careful running A/F's in the 12's. That's a very unsafe area and especially with pump gas. It would be a lot better and safer in the mid to upper 11's.

BTW.......What's up with the low TQ numbers? I would think you would be closer to 340 as at 455 whp I was at 310 lb ft.

Good numbers none the less and welcome to the 500+ whp club.
Low 12's to upper 11's is perfectly fine with the correct timing as flexer has mentioned. Not to mention I usually run on 15psi daily; 21psi is only for dyno days / the brief moment where all those ponies are needed.

Torque numbers are low due to manifold design. The manifold is rock hard reliable (aka no cracking) but won't produce the numbers that a tubular manifold will.

Congrats! I will be there soon too!

As for the comment about stock head bolts not being safe above 16psi, do you have any links?

I have been running a flat 12 afr and the ARP studs and I have a blown headgasket. I'm wondering if it's the studs, the afr, or both. If I emailed my EMS map to someone, would you be willing to help me figure out if it my studs or afr/timing is to blame? Or maybe I'll just make my own thread soon

Sorry to hijack

thanks - I'll look further into my tune and see if it wasn't the afr/timing that might've caused it to go. I know for a fact that the ARP studs were installed properly to their specs and with copper spray.
