Guys with built engines and oil burning...
I *think I am going through a lot of oil, I have CP pistons, forged rods, sleeved boosting at only 1.1 bar etc... My car is back on the road again, and I just had to put in a quart and a half for 100 miles, not even 5 mintues of that was spirited driving. What are others with similar setup seeing Is this normal?? Even have the crank vents installed..
trying to understand the mechanics behind this?

Have a shop close to you do a leakdown on your engine. That will tell you if your piston rings are either broken in right or if they were gapped correct. You shouldnt be going through that much oil. Yes built engines tend to go through a little more oil than a stock one for the fact that they are built with greater tolerances for eleviated power.
rings aren't seating properly and/or aren't gapped correctly. Do a leakdown test, this will you tell you how much blowby is going by your pistons.
Have your mechanic do the leakdown, and if it's bad, have him fix it. I've had the same problem with my previous built motor and people keep telling me that i have to break it in. A few thousand miles later, motor blew.

yeah get a leak down for sure. IF the a/f ratio was not close to 14.7:1 on the first initial starup and was running rich you could have washed out your rings. Does the car smoke a lot? That seems to be a real lot of oil. Is there new valve guide seals in the head? Who build the engine?
