Default Built motor break in oil?

Is there a specific oil that should be used when the motor is first fired up and tuned? Or should it just be the same oil that is going to be used during the life of the motor? Its not an OEM motor its been sleeved and whatnot.

Several Oil manufactures sell BREAK-IN OIL ..It's mainly High zinc mineral oil tho.

Have you asked your engine builder on what they recommend?

i used royal purple break in for the initial startup, then just a normal castrol non-synthetic oil for the first 1500 to seat the main seal...

im at 2000 now and running synthetic not seeing any leaks or smoke

royal purple and torco make decent break in oil.. however its not really needed.

I typically use whatever is on sale at walmart (thats not supertech brand)

For my current motor it's castrol gtx..

having the thing put together properly is more important than what oil you use to break it in.

I broke my Laskey in on Castrol 10/30 for a few hundred miles then changed to Amsoil 10/30.
It is cheaper since you change it quickly and probably helps set the rings so I used dino oil at first.

Can you use the dino oil on the dyno for the initial tune? I plan on flatbedding her over there and then doing some a/f pulls.
