Default Has anybody else had problems with Haltech Platinum Pro?

So Im running a vortech supercharger kit on my car with a 3.9 inch pulley at 12 psi. The car had been running GREAT until one day it just started cutting out at around 7000 revs. Its bizar, because it doesnt do it all the time, just sometimes. I find that it happens within about the first 40 minutes of driving the car, then after that when the engine is well and truely warmed up it runs great. Its as if, in that first 40 minutes of driving the EMS is telling my car that the engine is still cold and not to rev right through.

So Ive taken my car to my tuner that Ive used quite a few times. He's a real Honda nerd and his daily driver is a boosted AP1 that is also running a Haltech Platinum Pro. He said that the same thing thats happening to me has happened to him a couple of times. Not as often as it does to me, but a couple of times none the less and that he has experienced some other problems with the Haltech. He says he has tuned all sorts of cars with Haltech and he swears by the brand, but he is really disapointed with how it runs on Hondas.

We had my car on the Dyno for a few days trying to figure out what was going on. The first thing we did was change the spark plugs but that didnt make a difference to how the car was responding. He re-tuned it and then re-tuned it again and no matter what he did, it kept doing the same thing. He turned off all the safetys and it kept doing it. Vtec was engageing fine and while monitering it on the laptop it was trying to say that everything was running perfectly. After trying and trying absolutely everything he came to the conclusion that the fault is the Haltech computer. Theirs obviously some kind of glitch in mine. It has also started to occasionally stall completely at random and then will work fine for the rest of the day. Its as if the computer just "shits itself"

Im interested to hear if anybody else has experienced similar problems with their Haltech EMS systems?

I've heard about the problems with the new haltech pro. I was turbocharged and ran the haltech Platinum Sport 1000 for 10k miles and never had a problem.

Ive been running it for about 23,000 KM. We got by kms here in Australia, not quite sure what that converts to in miles. Maybe 15,000 or something?

It ran fine for about 18,000 and has been acting up for about the last 5k

Mine randomly misses every once in a while in both 3rd and 4th gear @ right about the same rpm.

Just a quick miss, and it continues to pull.

I have yet to be able to catch a solid log of it to send my tuner. But certainly interesting to see others have issues.

I'll see if I can get a log of it posted up here shortly.

My car had been down for 6 weeks or so, and I very rarely beat on it/have the laptop with me, but this calls for a log sesh for sure!

yeah i've the issue on the pro plug in box for the s2k. the issue i've seen with the sport 1000 box is the start up. i have the sport 1000 box on my s2k with the patch harness. i've adjusted the voltage threshold tables but it hasn't helped much. it starts worse once the car is warmed up. i haven't seen this issue with aem.

I do not see the miss counters change when the issue occurs, I have logged in it house and remotely on customers cars. Some cars are fine, while others are not. Its almost like the signal strength needs to be changed via hardware mod on the box instead of software. I had mentioned it to Haltech USA awhile back and no one at the time was having any issues that they were bringing to light so I thought it was an isolated thing with a handful of cars we have running Haltech. This is not an issue on the sport 1000/2000 boxes, its isolated to the PNP s2000 box only.

Jeff is the absolute MAN when it comes to post tuning support, and we have been trying to isolate this on my car/tune as well. I have been behind the ball a bit as the car was down for a few months after my tune, but I applaud your willingness to continue to work on this with us/actively searching out a solution to the issue.

Evans Tuning FTW, I'd never bring my car anywhere else.

It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one having this problem. My tuner personally knows the owner of Haltech as it is an Australian company and he has been reporting his problems with s2000 pnp to them and they don't want to take him seriously or admit these problems exist.

Has anybody else had issues with random stalling as well? It generally happens when coasting at low speeds or when coming to a complete stop when the clutch is engaged. But it happens at complete random and the car will behave fine most of the time. This is a relatively new issue.
