Default Having Exhaust housing fitment issues?

Sooooo.....This was making me a little frustrated. I'm going turbo this spring time, but instead of using the Inline Pro log manifold, I bought a Pfab ELT top mount. Problem was i needed a T4 housing for my turbo. Doesn't seem like that big of a problem right??? I have a Precision 6165 ball bearing turbo with a T3 .63a/r exhaust housing. I bought a used Precision 65mm T4 .81 a/r to fit to my turbo.

Should of fit like OEM right. But i can't get it to sit flush, and it seems like my fins are hitting the housing, because they won't spin freely. I contacted Precision on this to make sure it would fit, and they said it should fit. They told me I should clean the housing up a bit and get rid of the paint because it might be causing fitment issues. I'll do that tonight, but i just don't really know if that's going to help at all.

I'll use some brake cleaner and soak the housing with it to get rid of any rust and maybe strip some of the paint off parts of the housing.

Sounds like it's time to pull out the Dremel and do a little port work

it looks like there is room in the upper right side of the housing in your picture and not the left side? there's pretty much no wiggle room when putting the housing on so it just looks like more of a lining it up right than a paint thing.

if you have someone near you that can sand blast or media blast it i would try that

knowing precision and their crap quality control it's probably just the wrong size Lol

You think sand blasting would work? Ill have to use some paint stripper first and see what happens.

Looks like Precision's definition of "it should fit" is actually "it could fit". That's annoying, good luck to you.

Well, i took it to a shop to get it fixed. All they did was clean it up a little. They had to dremel some rust and stuff off, and it fits fine now. WHEW!!!..

They gave it a good wash and dry too.

Happy guy again.
