Default head gasket

I was just wanted to know from you guys that have changed out your head gaskets did you have to remove the wire harness from your knock sensor when removing the head off the block? and If so I heard that If you have a late year s2000 that the sensor gets old and will break when you try to remove It. just want to know what to look for If paying a shop to do it so I dont get taken for a ride.

I don't think I took anything apart on that side. I didn't remove the intake mani from the car though when I wapped my headgasket out.

no you dont. just make sure you take the connector for the crank position sensor off the intake plenum.

the wire harness does not need to be removed off of the knock sensor when taking the head and IM off. Look in the helms if you need more insight...

Ok this Is great Insight. Here Is the real story. I am having a 3mm headgasket put on by a local shop. They call me up and say In order to remove the head that they need to remove the harness from the knock sensor and that since mine is a 2000 that there Is a chance that It would break when they go to pull It off. so I say go for It and they call me back and tell me that It did break. can anyone give me more testomny before I put someone on blast.

the knock sensor is super fragile. A friend was helping me put the head back on the block and hit the knock sensor with his hand and it broke. I'm betting they had already broken the sensor when he called you and wanted to see if you would cover it as its a 130 dollar piece.
