How accurate is an Autometer Boost gauge
Just curious because my boost gauge shows 11 psi at WOT and all I have is the UR gen 2 kit w/ EMS and a Spugen dual ti. Could I really be running that high now that it's cold outside?

Where does the gauge take its reading from? It should be taken somewhere off the intake manifold. If it's too close to the impeller, it may read high.
And does it "zero" itself when there is no boost? This will be an indication of poor calibration.
Does it go to vacuum when you decel? If your gauge is pinned at zero, you will never know and it will be hard to tell if it is calibrated correctly.

Is it the electric or mech version? Like Xviper said it is best to have a dedicated nipple on the intake manifold for the guage. Don't T off another T. With that said, at 8998 rpm my electric AutoMeter boost guage read 9psi and the actual psi was 8.81psi.
Well, it is t'd off of the intake manifold i think. It just has a clear straw-like tube that is t'd in then straight to the gauge. It does fall back to zero, but there is no vacuum below that on the gauge. Thanks for the replies

Thanks guys. I dont even know how to access my EMS. The cable is accessible but I wouldnt know where to begin once I plugged it into my laptop. XViper, I understand what you mean about the calibration. I plan on upgrading to DEFI gauges but even then, I dont know if they have a negative or vacuum value. I brought up this topic because I didnt think the kit I bought would pass the claimed 7-8 psi. One thing is for sure, I've had it boosted for a few months now and I cant get enough of the acceleration and sounds assosciated with it.
