Default How do you know if it is knocking?

In F.I. set up(I'm currently running stock Vortech set up), how can you tell if you have knocking?
Power delivery on my car is very smooth and I do NOT hear or feel any knock or any abruptness.
But I remember you wont hear or feel most "knocking".
Is there anyway I can find?

Unless is detonating REALLY bad, You'll be hard pressed to hear it over 6K rpm, especially with a loud exhaust.

I've heard several FI'd Hondas detonate right before The VTEC switchover, when the low lift cams are at the edge of efficiency.

It's a light tapping that will go away when you close the throttle.

Ive never heard mine do it, but I have felt hesitaion when cold. At the dyno, the tech says he could hear it with the hood popped while I was doing runs. Couldnt hear it from in the car, to many other noises.

won't a compression test tell you earlier if the car will have problems?

It will tell you after the fact that the compression pressure is low, but that's about it.

I had an issue at the track when I was having boost creep issues, needless to say I overboosted to 21psi and didnt hear a knock at all. Thank god my EMS detected it with the knock sensor and retarded timing down to 3 degrees in the 1/2 second it took for me to get off the throttle.

Best way to know if you have knock is to be able to read your knock sensor.
