How much HP for 11 seconds?
Hello all I'm thinking about selling my 97 Miata and stepping up to an S2000. To my knowledge the s2k is basically a Miata but a little bit bigger and has a LOT more potential for power.
I want to know how much WHP would I need to run 11s in the 1/4 mile. I'm not building it FOR drag racing but I want straight line performance comparable to Corvettes. I've researched but I can only find threads from a few years back so I don't know if stuff has gotten better since then. I would appreciate it if someone gave me a WHP number, then the equipment I should use to get there. I don't know if I want to go turbo or SC. I like the sound of a turbo but I've never driven a turbo car so idk if I'd like it.
I don't know what year the car would be if I got one. I will not be able to run E85. This would be my weekend car. I will probably not go to the track often if at all so I won't be driving it VERY hard.
Thanks guys, if anyone responds to this I appreciate it

11 flat or 11.9? Big difference.
Either can be done with a turbo. You would be hard pressed to get an SC down to 11 sec flat, but im sure it could be done. mid 11 sec id say would be more realistic. Either way your looking at pushing 500whp and a good driver. Trap speed is the more crucial element of what kind of power the car is putting down. A great time can be had with less power but a better driver. Without e85, your power limit for an SC is going to be about 450whp. Turbo will depend on how big it is and the bigger the more lag. Id say without E85 you could get around 550whp. But your going to find limited tuners willing to go there without wanting to build/lower comp engine to do it safely. On a stock gas s2k engine, 425-450 is about the max you will get support for safely. Some have gone higher, but its all risk based, on the supporting equipment and the guys comfort level tuning it. With E85 and a big turbo there have been a few guys that made well over 700whp on a factory stock engine, or with limited head mods/stock bottom end.

Currenty I do not have actual times for my car. I probably won't either until I get a good diff under the car but that's neither here nor there.
My car made 560hp with a gtx3576, .64 hotside, and would walk away (3-4 cars) from stock 2015 gtrs. Now with a gtx3576 and a .82 hotside, I'm probably closer to 600hp after I've fixed the tune to compensate for the hotside change.
I'm putting more cars on cars (lol!). On a good day a new ZL1 will do 12.5-12.0, lowest reported numbers are 11.5s (stock of course). I went to mexico and put buses on one before I even got to 130. No contest. Logs and vids provide proof.
TLDR: 500 will get you there.

You need at least a 115mph trap speed for high 11's. And that's with slicks or drag radials with a fast 1.6-1.8 60ft. I have taken my turbo once to the 1/4 miles when it was running pump 91 octane making 442whp on a high reading dynopac. I ran 13.0 at 117mph.
I'll be going to the strip sometime in the next couple months to see what I run. Hoping to at least hit low/mid 12s rolling off the line on my 245 RE11's
My one recommendation to OP is regardless of what supercharger/turbo option you go with, find a nice reputable kit to install (Full Blown, Full Race, PFab...)

I'm on my phone and can't quote but I mean high 11s.
Would it be the same cost to do 450whp as 600whp? Is it just a matter of upping the boost? Or would I need more supporting mods and whatever else?

The main difference between 450 and 600 is having a fuel pump and injectors large enough to support that with the appropriate fuel, and a turbo capable of making that kind of power, everything else will essentially be the same.
What kind of stuff do I need to run 450whp? Like stuff besides the turbo, wastegate, bov, piping, and intercooler? I think I read somewhere that I need an aftermarket ecu. Will I need upgraded injectors? Will I need a better head gasket?
