How much HP for 11 seconds?
Hard to beat the looks of an s2k. Its a pretty timeless and aggressive/sexy design. Needs very little in that regard. It will always be a looker, unless you depart too far from its original demeanor and allow yourself to be tempted to totally molest it with subjective body kits, over fenders or "hellaflush".

Damn so you can get these cars into 11s pretty cheap huh? About 10k for the car and then about 7k in mods? And then if you want 10s it's right around the corner.
The diff is definitely, by far, the weakest link of the S2K.
I suck at drag racing. That or i just dont want to break parts. But with 526whp on a mustang dyno and street tires i only managed to trap 120mph. I've ran my buddies vette that trapped 135+mph in the 1/4 mile and we were neck and neck on a 40mph roll.
To run 11's, you just have to drive/launch the car hard and not be scared to break stuff.

As BaZurk stated the drive train in an S is not meant for launching and to get 11s you will have to. If you do it often you will be spending $5K for Ford 8.8 rearend and God knows what for a new tranny or a T-56 etc. For sure even before you start you need a new clutch or you never put the power down. Can you pull the tranny and install a clutch? If not there is labor to do so.
It sounds easy at first but it is one thing after another. S2000Junky has been through something like 4 or 5 engines.
When you more than double a factory motors output you put a lot strain on everything, things that were not designed for those loads. You drastically increase the heat load, often a new radiator and fans are required.
Generally speaking as HP goes up reliability goes down, not noticeable with a 10, 20 or even 50% gain but remember a stock S is something like 205-210HP at the rear wheels and you are talking about 5 and 6 hundred WHP now, that is 200 to 300% gain.
If you cannot install the turbo kit yourself there is some money for labor that no one is talking about. You will need the skill and the tools. Your average dyno session is 400 to $600. You are going to need a tuning solution as well, Hondata, Haltech, AEM, this could be a grand or two.
For that power you also need totally new exhaust system, another grand or two. You will need new wheels and tires if you are putting down 500WHP, $$$$$$$$$$ maybe a fender roll $$$$ What about suspension upgrades? What about brakes you have doubled your go fast but your slow down is still the same. The potential list goes on and on....
Once you start modding many of us have 2 or 3 times what they paid for the car in the car.
If $17K bought you a reliable 11 second car every one would have one.

My total build is under 4k and i can assure you i can crack a 11 second pass. Im gonna try to go before the season ends. I got all my parts on s2ki. Good quality parts too. If you can do the work yourself you can run 10s with under 10k.
